AUDAX RENOVABLES AND STATKRAFT SIGN MAJOR PPA
Badalona/Madrid, July 3, 2019. The agreement, effective immediately, provides that the Norwegian Statkraft will annually supply Audax Renovables with 525 GWh of electricity for a period of ten and a half years. An amount of energy that could satisfy the energy needs of approximately 130 thousand Spanish families in a year. And of green energy only that Audax Renovables will distribute between SMEs and domestic users.
The electricity supplied will come entirely from Statkraft’s Spanish solar portfolio. Over the past 15 months, the Norwegian company has closed several power purchase agreements for both purely market-driven transactions and projects resulting from the award of public tenders.
With this agreement, Audax Renovables and Statkraft are contributing to the achievement of the 2020 climate objectives, with 20% of energy coming from renewable sources. A significant fact, especially considering that SMEs – and their consumption – are key components in this phase of energy transition.
“The agreement is in line with our strategic objective of having affordable energy through the signing of long-term Power Purchase Agreements, in order to continue growing nationally and internationally. The PPA with Statkraft will allow us to offer advantageous conditions and, consequently, consolidate our position as the leading independent energy supplier to Spanish SMEs,” says José Elías, founder and president of Audax Renovables.
“PPAs are an important part of Statkraft’s strategy in Spain. The agreement with Audax Renovables reinforces our leading position in this sector. We are proud to be able to provide concrete answers to the growing interest of the Spanish and Portuguese industry in renewable energy,” explains Hallvard Granheim, Executive Vice President Markets&IT at Statkraft.
